Every Whizz phone checks in with the nearest sites every few seconds so that calls and messages can reach it. saOS Signal keeps those check-ins and uses the strength of each one to estimate where the phone is.
On a 6G Plus connection the estimate is within about 110 meters. As signal drops, the circle grows. When a phone leaves coverage, saOS keeps its last known position until it returns.
Partner agencies can look up any Whizz number and see its current position and history. A live trace refreshes every three seconds.
